The Captain of a Qatar passenger jet alerted authorities of a bomb threat on his flight from Doha to Manchester. Within minutes Air Traffic Control and the RAF had coordinated and managed to get two Typhoon aircraft launched from Coningsby, in Lincolnshire to accompany the beleaguered aircraft. Excellent. So far so good. I’m sure this is exactly how the Ministry of Defence envisaged these types of terrorist incidents to be handled.
….The Typhoons then escorted the Airbus A330-30 to …..Manchester.
So, there was a suspected bomb on the plane and they allowed it to land slap bang in the middle of one of the busiest airports in the world?
I suggest the MoD go back to the drawing board and that Mr Cameron should pull the other one.
